Munich

Hi hi, back in Germany and will be visiting Munich in the next 2 weeks ...Its Summer now...Bright at 5am to 930pm (long day)...

Mariensäule - The golden statue of Virgin Mary which was sculpted in 1590 and at each corner is a statue of a putti.

Last visit to New Town Hall or Neues Rathaus was during Spring, now is the summer view...

Interested in having a meal or drink on the hanging platform (Novelty)...

Had a short run around the city centre....to enjoy the scenery...
It was unfortunate that I was down with Chickenpox on Monday (29 June 09) after my first day of work and self quarantined in the hotel for next week. Its a suffering (the itch and roller-coastal fever) and boring (cos I am alone) week for me...So my advise to all reader is to have it while you are young or take a vaccine.

Berlin

I was in Berlin for 1 week and managed to visit some of the historical places such as brandenburg gate built in 1788, where Napoleon had once visited. The gate had survived WW2.

Here is the historical trabi car or also known as trabant that was built by the former East German auto carmaker, VEB. it was popular with the East German as it was compact, light and durable.

Munchen

Germany is a place with full range of wonderful beer, sausages and pork knuckles...but you must watch your diet!...which I have always fail to do so..."Hungry man is Angry man"...so better keep your stomach full..

But for this trip, I had controlled my diet especially after all those CNY sinful dinners...so dun expect pictures of yummy food in this blog...Managed to catch a beautiful day sight of the Munich Town hall and the market place in Munich.

I have decided to visit the Germany Museum to appreciate the evolution of aviation technology of the past and present.

The picture below reminds me of the good old days back in school when I was struggling with the dynamics, its numerous theories and assumptions...that was more than 6 years ago...time flies...missed the good old carefree days...

Dachau Concentration Camp

Despite the cold weather, I still visit the Dachau Concentration Camp...where more than 200,000 ppl were murdered between 1933 and 1945...

This is the Camp road where I am standing and there were 30 bunks built along this camp road that housed the prisoners. Now only 2 bunks left at the site.

Munich Winter Holiday 09...

This is my first trip to Germany for hectic year 09 for 3 weeks, luckily can meet just in time for CNY...Reluctantly took Emirates to Munich as SQ was fully booked...and stayed in Dachau (The Nazi First Concentration Camp during WWII, Munich)..Not the best time to visit as the temp dropped to as low as -15 deg....Just take a look at my freezing friend...

Here are some places of interests that I have visited during the weekends....

1. BMW World

The History and Future of BMW series...

2. Munich Opera House....(On the right is where the luxury brands boutiques.)

3. The Majestic New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) in Munich's Central Square...where we had our Bavarian delights at the nearby restaurant...

Will be updating again after this weekend excursion at Dachau's Nazi Concentration Camp...
